The Department carries out tasks within the frames of “Tourism Development Strategy in Pomorskie Voivodeship”, cooperates with adequate bodies, institutions and societies in the field of tourism development, cooperates with Pomeranian Regional Tourist Organisation (PROT) and tourist entities not being members of PROT, local tourist organizations of Pomorskie Voivodeship. Under the Tourist Services Act, it carries out tasks connected with categorization of hotels, organises and supervises the work of the examination board responsible for conducting examinations for candidates for tour guides and couriers on package tours, maintains the register of tour operators and intermediaries.
Using funds obtained from outside, it implements national and international projects. The promotional campaign called “Pomorskie, be colourful”, aimed at national tourists has been launched. The campaign is to promote Pomorskie Voivodeship and create the image of destination with rich tourist offer throughout the year.
Another project financed with the EU funds is Integrated Tourist Information System whose aim is to provide up-to-date tourist information in different points of the region by making the web portal available in its map version in 245 infomats. The IT Management Centre is planned to be located in Brama Wyżynna which shall serve as Regional Tourist Information Centre.
